Current sensing is one of the crucial means to evaluate, diagnose, and control the effectiveness of electronic systems.
According to Ohm's Law, I=U/R, when the measured current flows through a resistor, the voltage produced across the resistor is proportional to the current passing through it. As a result, detecting the voltage across the resistor can provide the current value passing through it.
The resistor used for current sensing is also known as Current Sensing Resistor (CSR). Considering factors such as not increasing power loss and not affecting the current magnitude in the circuit, the resistance value of the current sensing resistor is very small, typically in the milliohm range. As a high-precision current sensor, the accuracy of the current sensing resistor represents the accuracy of the resistance value. This accuracy is influenced by many factors such as power, temperature coefficient, thermoelectric potential, impedance, etc., all of which can affect the accuracy of current measurement. Therefore, selecting current sensing resistors with stability and accuracy is crucial.
As electronic devices continue to advance, the demand for current sensing resistors is expanding to meet higher requirements for circuit control and protection. The application scope of current sensing resistors is becoming increasingly wide, with higher technological and accuracy requirements.
WAYON, as a comprehensive solution provider focusing on circuit protection and power control, has a deep understanding of the requirements for circuit sensing from the perspective of circuit control and protection. WAYON laid out the research and development and mass production of the full range of current sensing resistors and modules many years ago, aiming to create the most comprehensive and technologically advanced product series domestically. Together with other advantageous product lines in circuit protection and control, WAYON provides customers with comprehensive solutions.
WAYON currently has five major CSR product series: the MLR series with alloy foil technology, the MAR series with pure alloy technology, the MPR and MSR series with Shunt technology, and current sensor modules. The products are widely used in consumer electronics, network communications, industrial IoT, automotive, new energy, and other major markets. Based on technological innovation, WAYON continuously improves the layout of advanced technology and overall products.

1: Types of WAYON CSR Products
WAYON CSR products adopt independently developed advanced automation processes, realizing the upgrading and optimization of raw materials and dedicated equipment. They have advantages such as high power, high precision, low temperature coefficient, and high reliability. The performance of the products is comparable to international advanced levels, and all product series comply with the international automotive electronics association AECQ-200 (passive components) testing standards. Thanks to advanced technology and strict production standards, WAYON CSR has gained support from numerous brand customers and has established substantial cooperation.
The current sensor is an automotive-grade current detection module that can be used to measure bidirectional DC current and has high precision, low power consumption, a wide operating temperature range, and excellent response speed, temperature stability, and anti-interference capability. The WAYON current sensor is designed based on a low-temperature drift current shunt, uses a 24-bit automotive-grade ADC, an M0 architecture MCU, communicates via the CAN2.0 A/B protocol, meets the operating temperature range of -40℃ to 105℃, supports continuous operating currents of -600A to 600A, and temperature measurement from -50℃ to 150℃. The high-precision algorithm compensates the sampled data based on real-time detection of the shunt temperature, making the sampling more accurate.
The current measurement accuracy within the range of 50A to 600A or -600A to -50A is ±0.1%, and the maximum temperature measurement error within the full temperature range is ±3℃. At the same time, the WAYON current sensor uses a single power supply from 6V to 18V, with power consumption controlled below 400mW (12VDC), and achieves complete high and low voltage isolation, which can be applied to the positive or negative terminal of the battery system.
